Industrial pipelines are the circulatory system of any process plant carrying steam, water, chemicals, compressed air, gases, and fuels across the facility safely and reliably. Pipeline Types & Applications

  • Process Piping (ASME B31.3): Chemical process lines, reactor feed/discharge, solvent and acid service — fabricated in carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and duplex stainless steel.
  • Power Piping (ASME B31.1): High-pressure steam lines, boiler feed water, condensate return, and main steam headers for thermal power plants.
  • Utility Piping: Cooling water, plant air, instrument air, nitrogen, potable water, and firefighting lines.
  • Oil & Gas Piping: Crude oil transfer lines, gas gathering networks, slug catchers, and fuel gas systems — including sour service with H₂S considerations.
  • Cryogenic Piping: LPG, LNG, and liquid nitrogen service lines with insulation jacketing systems.

Our Pipeline Fabrication Capabilities

Material Management

We source pipes, fittings, flanges, and valves from approved manufacturers with full mill certificates and heat numbers. All incoming material is verified for dimensions, chemistry, and mechanical properties against purchase specifications before release to the shop floor.

Spool Fabrication

Isometric drawings are issued to skilled pipefitters who cut, fit, and tack-assemble pipe spools in our dedicated piping workshop. Jigs and alignment tools ensure dimensional accuracy, with spool dimensions checked against isometrics before welding commences.

Certified Welding

All pipeline welding is performed by coded welders qualified to ASME IX or IS 7307 welding procedure specifications (WPS). We maintain a register of qualified welders with current continuity records. Welding processes include:

  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
  • GTAW/TIG (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) for root passes and stainless steel
  • FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) for high-productivity fill and cap passes
  • Orbital TIG welding for high-purity and pharmaceutical piping

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

Weld quality is verified through a comprehensive NDT programme tailored to the service category and applicable code:

  • Visual Inspection (VT) 100% of all welds
  • Radiographic Testing (RT) to ASME B31.3 examination category requirements
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) for thick-wall pipe and inaccessible joints
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) for carbon steel surface and near-surface defects
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) for stainless steel and non-magnetic materials

Pressure Testing & Commissioning

Completed pipeline systems are hydrostatically pressure tested to 1.5× design pressure in accordance with applicable code requirements. Test packages, punch lists, and test records are prepared and handed over with the as-built documentation package.

Field Installation & Erection

Beyond workshop spool fabrication, PrayagFab provides complete field installation services including pipe support fabrication and erection, field welding of tie-in joints, flange bolting to torque specifications, insulation support installation, and final alignment and commissioning.
